Every little girl dreams of having a wedding in a castle. However in America, we don’t have any real castles. So unless you plan on having a destination wedding in Ireland or Germany, you only have one option: the Disney Castle! Styled after a famous castle Bavaria, it’s absolutely stunning. That castle is in Florida, but there is another castle in California and it is equally awesome. Disney also has a cruise that many people choose to go on and it is a great option for same-sex marriages. In addition to the cruise, Disney has a resort in Hawaii. They are all great options, but don’t feel like you can’t have a Disney themed wedding if you aren’t getting married at a Disney resort. I attended a wedding a couple years ago that was Mickey Mouse themed and it was in St. Louis. I don’t think the location to away from the theme at all!
Here are some ideas to get you started on planning your disney themed wedding!
Let’s start off with some wardrobe options. Personally I feel like you have to have a huge princess dress, but if that’s not your thing, anything elegant would also be beautiful! Check out the precious lace dress with the long trail- stunning. As far as bridesmaids and groomsman go, you could go for a more traditional option and add on fun accessories, or you can go all out and have all of your bridesmaids and groomsmen dress as Disney characters! On a side note, I love the matching hoodies that say mr & mrs, those would be great for a honeymoon.
As I was doing my research on Disney themed weddings, I came across some awesome decorating ideas. My favorite idea comes from my favorite Disney Movie, Cinderella. They used a wire carriage for all the cards! Too cute! Another idea that seemed to be very popular was sticking a few roses under a class globe like Sleeping Beauty. If the princesses aren’t the theme you’re going for, then you’re probably obsessing over Mickey Mouse right? In that case, there are so many decorations out there. And with such an easy shape, it’s easy to make a lot of things yourself. For example, the Minnie Mouse had that’s in the middle of the flower arrangement is just three styrofoam balls spray painted black. You just stick them together with sticks! Also consider asking your florist if there is anyway they can incorporate Mickey Mouse into your floral arrangements. Maybe you can have a Mickey Mouse rose head at your reception too! 😉
I never knew the wedding cake was such a big deal until I got into the wedding business. I guess the importance of the cake all stems from cake time being everyone’s favorite time. All eyes on the bride and groom as they make that first cut! The best part of the Disney theme, is the fact that it is so easy to capture an elegant, but super fun feel at the same time.
The last jumble of things I stumbled upon is just a bunch of stuff I had to share with you guys. Mickey Mouse link cuffs are a must. I love the Mickey Mouse take on the customized hangers. Mickey mouse hats for engagement pictures-genius. A Cinderella carriage is priceless. And lastly, these rings that are designed after the princesses…umm give your guy the heads up now if it’s not too late?!
If you haven’t purchased your invites yet, check out out Disney Passport! It is awesome, and is sure to get your guests excited about attending your special day!
